Overwatch Loses Jeff Kaplan
Jeff Kaplan decided to leave Blizzard. His position will be taken by Aaron Keller.
Jeff Kaplan leaves Blizzard after working with the studio for 19 years, flabbergasting the Overwatch fans. The reason behind his decision is undisclosed, though.
Jeff Kaplan was known for his directing work on Overwatch, as well as comically edited videos, in which his normal monologues about the game updates would turn into bizarre and sometimes disturbing rants.
One of the most memorable edited meme statements was “We encourage people to hopefully make lifelong enemies while playing Overwatch and turn on each other because we really think it enhances the experience.”
Aron Keller, his successor, says that he’s honored to carry on Jeff’s legacy. As he also implied, the preparations for Overwatch 2 are really gaining a momentum. And Blizzard will spill more about the upcoming game — trailers, gameplay, characters — later this year.
“We’ll be sharing more frequent updates about Overwatch 2 progress and new features in the live game with you all very soon.”
Here you can check the updated characters that Overwatch 2 will feature. The game’s release date is unknown, but it’s expected to arrive in 2022.
